BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. Spring is in the air and on the walls at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library.
The library is showcasing work from the Ossining Arts Council with its March exhibit The Eyes of March: Visions of Spring. Dozens of Briarcliff Manor and Ossining artists came together on the project to feature their work throughout the month of March in the show. Ossining Arts Council Director Mark Sarazen said the organization didnt want to limit its artists with a direct theme but most ran with the idea of spring.
Its kind of fun and tongue-in-cheek, Sarazen said. We didnt want to limit anyone and I think it turned out great.
Sarazen added that the premiere for the exhibit earlier this month drew more than 150 people to the library.
Theres been a lot of buzz around the art and I think its something the community has really latched onto, Sarazen said, adding that the buzz is building with the announcement of a new leased space in Ossining. Were going to have a brand new exhibition space in downtown Ossining and were all very excited about it.
Sarazen said the council is receiving leased space from the Ossining Fire Department at the Senate Firehouse building at 117 Main St.
It was extremely generous for them to do this for us, he said. By the arts council being downtown, well be able to attract more people to the area. When people come to an art opening or seminar, its pretty common that theyre going to want to eat afterward at a local restaurant and generate a lot of traffic. I think its going to work out wonderfully for everyone.
The Eyes Of March: Visions of Spring will be featured at the Briarcliff Manor Public Librarys second floor through March 31. Those looking for more information are asked to email Sarazen.
