Williams, an actress, singer and designer, was born in the Bronx, but grew up in the New Castle hamlet of Millwood. Her parents were both educators.
The Clear View School’s annual “Feels Like Home Gala” is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at The Briarcliff Manor.
The event will feature a cocktail reception, food, a silent auction and entertainment.
Tickets are $200 for an individual and $375 for a couple.
The school, which has been operating for close to 50 years, says its offers children a fully integrated academic and therapeutic treatment program that “intensely” involves families and is delivered in a day treatment model.
According to its website one of the things the school could use the money for is a new boiler.
“Our boiler has been a workhorse and is original to our 100-year-old building,” the website said.
It has been repaired as much as it can be, the school says, adding that a new boiler for a building its size costs $55,000.
“Chilly days will soon be upon us! Please make an investment in the mission that is The Clear View School -- where learning, healing and hope are found!,” the website’s message said.
The school at 480 Albany Post Road originally was built as a private educational facility for the children of Frank and Narcissa Vanderlip and the children of their wealthy neighbors.
Vanderlip was a financier who overcame a tough childhood to become the architect of our country’s central bank.
