The annual event is a fundraiser for the hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, which provides children from the Hudson Valley with life-changing and lifesaving care including open-heart surgery, brain surgery, cancer treatments, trauma and burn care, organ transplants, advanced neonatal services and other advanced pediatric care.
Below is the story of one child who benefited from the hospital’s lifesaving treatment:
Emilié Saltzman, Age 9
When Emilié was thrown from a horse in October 2015, she stopped breathing and lost consciousness. Having suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries, Emilié was airlifted to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, where doctors placed her on life support in the Pediatric ICU. Even after she could breathe on her own, Emilié could not walk, talk or eat and spent four months in rehabilitation. Thanks to her strength and the lifesaving care she received, today Emilié is a happy, healthy 9-year-old. Click here to learn more about Emilié's story.
