What To Do In Briarcliff Manor This Weekend

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – A Briarcliff Manor kickboxing class and the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Ossining highlight this weekend's events. For more listings, please check out our events page.

Friday, Sept. 28

Computer Help: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, contact Cheryl at (914) 2416, Ext. 315. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Games at the Ossining Library: 3:30 to 5 p.m. Video and board games in the Budarz Theater. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Senior Cooking Class: 10 a.m. to Noon. "The Chemistry of Food and Cooking," a Westchester Community College Mainstream course for senior citizens. The class will be taught by Dr. Sandra Flank of Westchester Community College. The class will be held on Sept. 28 and Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to noon. Contact Kathy Asaro or Debbie Klein, 941-7198, to sign up for the class. Though the class is free, registration is necessary. Ossining Senior Center, 95 Broadway, Ossining.

Free Kickboxing Class: 6:30 p.m. Join Master Chris Berlow as he leads you in a complimentary kickboxing workout guaranteed to make you sweat, burn calories and feel energized. Friday Night Move In Briarcliff: 7 p.m. The Briarcliff Manor Public Library will hold a screening of the film “The Hunger Games.” Light refreshments will be served with the movie. Registration is recommended at 941-7072. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Exercise Class at All Saints: 8:30 a.m. The Briarcliff Manor church hosts an exercise class on Saturdays. The class is free. All Saints Episcopal Church, 201 Scarborough Road, Briarcliff Manor.

The Ossining Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Farmers Market runs every Saturday through Dec. 15. Market Square, Market and Spring streets. 

Ossining Prescription Drug Take Back: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Village of Ossining Police, the Ossining Communities That Care Coalition and the DEA will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The service is anonymous. Birdsall-Fagan Police/Court Facility, 86-88 Spring St.

Ossining Girl Scout Recruitment: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you or someone you know is interested in Girl Scouts come to the library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and sign-up. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Briarcliff Children Story Time: 11 a.m. All story times are drop in. Story time for children from 2 to 6-years-old will start in the Briarcliff Manor Public Library. Registration is recommended at 941-7072. Briarcliff Manor Public Library, 1 Library Road.  

The Digital Darkroom: 1 to 3 p.m. Photographer Mark R Friedman presents a technical overview of what to do with your digital picture. The class starts at 1 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Ossining Public Library. Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave.

Ossining High School Alumni Gathering: 1 p.m. to dusk. Spend a casual day with your family and Ossining High School classmates. They will provide grills, plates and condiments. Bring your own entrée, your own drinks and a salad or dessert to share with others. Cost is $10 per Alumni. Parking is $5 per car—let them know you are there for this event. Sunday, Sept. 30

Briarcliff Historical Society Gala and Fundraiser: 6 p.m. The Briarcliff Manor Scarborough Historical Society is set to host a Harvest Wine Dinner at the new Hudson at Haymount House on Sunday. The event is already sold out, with more than 140 residents committing to the dinner that honors local individuals and celebrates the village’s 110 year history. Haymount House, Briarcliff Manor.
