This week's theme recognizes Cinco de Mayo. Residents are invited to come down to Pleasantville Road and join the merchants in the Central Business District between 5 and 8 p.m., Thursday, for a chili cook-off with entertainment provided by a mariachi band. The tradition is set to continue throughout the spring and summer on the first Thursdays of each month.
The Briarcliff Manor Chamber of Commerce was inspired in recent years by similar events in Tarrytown. Organizers said the idea is to bring Briarciff Manor residents and business owners closer together and invite them outside.
Eric Messer, president of Briarcliff Manor’s Chamber of Commerce, said previously that the interest is continuing to grow locally.
“(Last) year we got the majority of businesses in town to participate all offering something special,” Messer said previously. “But it’s nice to do something to bring the community out and it’s nice to see your neighbors and it really makes a community. I think it’s a great idea and we want to keep it around.”
