Photo: This Bank Robbery Suspect Threatened To Use Explosives, Police Say
Police have released a photo of a suspect on the loose after a noontime bank robbery in the area earlier this week. The robbery occurred at approximately 11:52 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Trustco Bank on Route 9 near Myers Corners Road in the town of Wappinger, according to state police. An investigation revealed a white man dressed in all black, with a black umbrella, and ski mask entered the bank and threatened the use of an explosive device to gain access to the vault, and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, police said. Man Caught Stealing $1.6K Computer At BJ's Wholesale Club
After a monthslong investigation, a man from Poughkeepsie was taken into police custody for allegedly stealing more electronics and merchandise from a Dutchess County BJ’s Wholesale Store. In May, New York State Police investigators received a report from BJ’s on Route 9 in Wappinger of a larceny, when two vacuums and a Dell desktop computer were stolen, with a value of more than $1,600. Police said that after a four-month investigation, they identified Michael Horowitz, 27, as a suspect, and he was subsequently arrested. With local and state police agencies cracking down on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among nearly two dozen in the area who found themselves on the wrong side of the law over the weekend. As part of the STOP-DWI crackdown, State Police troopers busted several motorists for driving while intoxicated as they attempt to stop motorists from drinking and driving in the area.
