$42 Million Affordable, Supportive Housing Project Completed In Hudson Valley
A $42 million project to create affordable and supportive housing for older adults in the Hudson Valley has officially been completed. Vincent's Village in Rockland County has 93 affordable apartments with on-site health and wellness centers for residents aged 55 and older, according to an announcement from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The housing development is located on Convent Road in Nanuet. 'Senseless' Tragedy: Hudson Valley Residents Mourn Death Of 25-Year-Old In Texas Mass Shooting
Family and friends are mourning the death of a Hudson Valley man killed in a mass shooting in Austin, Texas over the weekend. Douglas John Kantor, age 25, a native of Airmont in Rockland County, was waiting outside a bar to get in when shots were fired and he was struck in the abdomen and later died. ID Released For Firefighter Killed In Blaze At Rockland Senior Facility
A Rockland County firefighter who became trapped in a massive fire at an area senior living facility has been identified by officials. The body of Spring Valley Firefighter Jared Lloyd was found around 11:52 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. Lloyd, age 35, who has volunteered with the department for about 15 years, called a mayday while rescuing residents from the burning complex that housed around 112 residents, Rockland County Fire Coordinator Chris Kear.
