New York state lawmakers are considering legislation aimed at expanding the definition of drugged driving amid a rise in fatal crashes. A bill sponsored by Democratic Sen. John Mannion and co-sponsored by two Republicans would change the definition of “drug” in the vehicle and traffic law to include any substance or combination of substances that impairs one’s ability to drive. Dog Forced Into Temporary Quarantine After Attacking Pet In Westchester, Police Say
A dog in Westchester has been forced into a 10-day quarantine after attacking another dog being walked by its owner in the street, police said. The Scarsdale Police Department received a report from a Montgomery Road resident on Thursday, Feb. 18 after she was walking her dog on Boulevard in the village when a different dog ran down a driveway and attacked her pet. Police said that the 61-year-old woman was unable to separate the two dogs until the owner of the second called off his dog, which had bit the other several times, leaving it with injuries to its back and side. A COVID-19 micro-cluster focus area in the Hudson Valley has just been upgraded to an Orange Warning Zone. The zone is located in Westchester County. Based on data metrics, Port Chester's yellow zone will make the transition, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, Nov. 11. A dog was quarantined for 10 days after biting a pedestrian and going after a bicyclist in Westchester, police said.
