Covid-19: Two More Schools In Northern Westchester Go Remote After Students Test Positive Two more schools in the Hudson Valley are closed for in-person learning after positive cases of COVID-19. The Lakeland Central School District announced on Wednesday evening, Oct. 7 that it was notified earlier in the day that two students were identified as COVID-19 positive, one at Walter Panas High School, and one at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School.  As a result, Walter Panas High School and Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School will be on fully remote instruction for Thursday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 9. Boy Accused Of Hitting Other Student, Yelling Racial Slur At School In Northern Westchester A 12-year-old student at a Northern Westchester school was arrested for allegedly hitting another student while yelling a racial slur. The student at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in Yorktown Heights was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 10, after a case of "aggravated harassment," was assigned to the school resource officer to investigate, said the Yorktown Police. An investigation into the incident, which took place on Tuesday, Oct. 8, found that the student allegedly hit another student while calling him a racial slur, police said.
