Sectional Champ Byram Hills Returns To County Center For State Playoffs

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- If the state tournament is anything like the Section 1 boys basketball playoffs, Byram Hills fans will have more excitement in store.

Byram Hills edged Tappan Zee 46-45 Sunday night in the Class A sectional final at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The tiebreaking basket for the Bobcats came with just over a minute remaining in regulation when Matt Groll scored in the paint off a feed from Skylar Sinon. Sinon, who had 13 points, four assists and four rebounds, was named tournament MVP.

The Bobcats (19-5) will make its first state tournament appearance in five years when they face Red Hook of Section 9 Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in a state regional semifinal back at the County Center.
