Masons Golf Outing Funds Peekskill Playground

The 1st Westchester Putnam Masonic Charities Corporation hosted its 2nd Annual Golf Outing on June 17, raising more than $4,000, including a $1,000 donation to help fund Peekskill’s First Hebrew Nursery School’s “Playground Fund”.

The event was held at the Casperkill Country Club, in Poughkeepsie with 66 golfers playing for the group’s charities. Despite the threat of rain predicted, golfers got in a full round.\

“We couldn't have asked for a better opening for a great charity,” event organizer Rob McCarthy said. “Everyone really enjoyed the day, and it was great to see Masons and non-Masons get together for a great day. Mother Nature gave us a window of about six hours, which opened about 45 minutes before tee-off and closed just as the last golfers got to the restaurant for dinner.”

McCarthy, who lives in Peekskill, said funds would be used for various charities supported by the Masons in the Westchester/Putnam community and that next year’s outing was scheduled for June 22, 2012.

The First Westchester Putnam Masonic Charity Corporation (MCC), a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, is the primary charitable organization affiliated with the 1st Westchester Putnam District. While the MCC feels a special responsibility for the care of its members and their families, it also provides support to people with no connection with the Masonic Fraternity.
