Fox Lane's Muller Catches On Big at Franklin & Marshall

Tim Muller had a break-out sophomore year as a wide receiver for the Franklin & Marshall University football team with 44 receptions for 550 yards and two touchdowns.

The 2010 Fox Lane graduate and Pound Ridge resident accomplished this even with missing two games to injury. Muller is happy about what he accomplished last year, but the junior is aiming to continue his progress as a receiver.

Muller will embark on this when Franklin and Marshall hosts Washington and Lee in the season-opener Saturday.

“I still want to prove myself,” said the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Muller, who is majoring in business. “I want to continue improving and I know that I can be better.”

Muller put himself in position to succeed following his freshman year. Muller started the last two games that year and the confidence he gained carried over into spring ball, where he earned a starting spot.

Even with his starting spot secured, Muller spent his summer preparing for the 2011 season. Muller said he weighed 175 pounds as a freshman. He returned for preseason in 2011 having gained 20 pounds.

“Physically, I grew and I was working hard in the weight room,” Muller said. “Not only did I put on 15-20 pounds, I felt I put on muscle. I felt stronger. I did an off-season program that helped me with my quickness. And it also helps when you have brothers who will throw you the football.”

Muller is looking forward to his junior year because of the school's offensive philosophy.

“We rely on throwing the ball anywhere from 40-45 times a game so it’s nice being on my end of it,” Muller said. “Game-in and game-out, our plan is to attack.”

Now that Muller has established himself as the Diplomats’ leading receiver, opposing defenses will focus on denying him the ball.

“It is going to be a challenge so I have to step up and play better than I did last year,” Muller said.
