PURCHASE, N.Y. The Fox Lane varsity wrestling team opened the 2011-12 season just like it did last year.
The Foxes dominated, going 6-0 to win their second consecutive Tony Carlucci Dual-Meet Tournament Saturday at Purchase College.
Fox Lane defeated Somers, which finished 5-1, in the title match, 49-25. Fox Lane is now 12-0 in winning the past two Carlucci titles.
Danny Ventura, Sam Speno, Giancarlo Morreale, Matt Pasqualini, Tommy Grippi and Frank Surace all went 6-0. Surace was named the most outstanding freshman wrestler of the tournament.
Somers Brian Realbuto was chosen the most outstanding senior.
Monroe-Woodbury defeated Scarsdale, 51-24, to finish third, Port Chester shaded Edgemont, 40-39, in the fifth-place match, Iona Prep defeated Mamaroneck, 48-34, to finish seventh and Croton pinned Eastchester, 52-30, to take ninth.
