Fox Lane Loses Homecoming Game to Carmel, 14-7

BEDFORD, N.Y. – The Fox Lane High School varsity football team lost its seventh game of the season during their Homecoming game against the Carmel High School Rams, 14-7, Saturday. The Foxes finished the regular season 0-7.

The Foxes struck first, and quickly. Spencer Chernus found the end zone with a 40-yard run to his left, and he did not get touched by a Ram until he broke the plane at 9:16.

For much of the second quarter, the Foxes and Rams played defensive ball, not allowing each other much momentum. But quarterback Dillon Wachter found his form, and favorite target Alex Grace, whom he connected with on a 30-yard pass down to the Foxes four-yard line. Running back James Blank punched it in to tie the game at seven with a minute left in the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Rams awakened in the fourth. Carmel was led by their talented connection of Wachter to Grace, which led the Rams down the field for a score. A 66-yard pass set up the 10-yard fade route for a touchdown, both caught by Grace. The Rams took the 14-7 lead that became the final score.

The loss did not take away from the Homecoming affairs, however. The seniors on the football team were recognized, including: Henne Omar, Dan Feda, T.J, Hallock, Ryan Boddie, Benn Ruff, Spencer Chernus, Kevin Muller, Mac Roos, Jeffece Edelen, Nick and Anthony Grasso, Chris Tomassi, Andre Brittis-Tannenbaum, Bryant Hill, Cole Browne, Anthoney Mendez, Nathan Davidow, and George Meres.
