Fox Lane Field Hockey Joins Pink Game Cause

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Hosting a Pink Game, or Play For The Cure, has become a Section 1 field hockey staple in recent years. On Friday, Fox Lane will join the cause.

The Foxes will host Ossining at 4:15 p.m. in their first Pink Game.

Pink Games are played as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“I know other field hockey teams in Section 1 play a Pink Game so I felt it was time for us to get on board and support such a worthy cause,” Fox Lane coach Melissa Heyde said. “I told the girls in August that we would have a Play For The Cure game. Everyone was really enthusiastic about it. Many of the parents have volunteered to make banners and bake goods for our “pink” bake sale.

“The girls have tie-dyed warm-up shirts and socks pink to wear during warm-ups on Friday,” she said
