Elton Brand Clinic Returns to Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Elton Brand has been all over the country since he left Peekskill for Duke University and the NBA after graduating Peekskill High in 1997. But there’s no place like home for Brand when it comes to helping young people from the community where he began his basketball life.

The Peekskill High graduate returns next week for the annual ‘Peekskill Celebration’ and his Elton Brand Basketball Clinic on August 6. Drafted No. 1 by the Chicago Bulls, he moved on to the Los Angeles Clipper for seven seasons and just completed his third year with the Philadelphia 76ers.

“I always enjoy coming home, especially to work with the kids and to give back what I can,” said Brand, who began his Elton Brand Foundation to assist Peekskill’s schools in 2000. “I’m looking forward to being back for the clinic.”

The Elton Brand clinic is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 at Peekskill High School with doors opening at Doors10 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Elton Brand Foundation. Young people ages 7-15 are invited to participate in the 30-minute clinic, conducted by Peekskill High School coach Lou Panzanaro.

Pre-registration is strongly recommended; applications available online at the celebration website,www.peekskillcelebration.com.
