According to a statement from the school, the students collected toiletries, winter socks and snacks for the packages and readied them for delivery to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley, a facility that houses many families of children who receive long-term treatment at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla.
While most of the materials were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House, others were packaged for a Breakfast Run to New York City, organizers said, adding that the success of the Dec. 23 charity effort was “the result of tremendous teamwork.”
The donated items came from the students and their families, West Patent school staff and local businesses, organizers said, adding that the Kiit Committee also planned and participated in a school-wide holiday assembly that reinforced the importance of kindness and working to help others.
