BEDFORD, N.Y. – Three candidates will run unopposed for three seats on the Bedford Central School District’s Board of Education.

The school board seats will be up for election on May 21, when voters will also get to vote on the district’s proposed 2013-14 budget.

Current board members Jennifer Gerken and Suzanne Grant are running for re-election, and newcomer Michael Solomon is the only one running for the third available seat.

Solomon is a Bedford resident who ran for a seat in 2010 but lost by about 300 votes. Each of the three seats are three-year terms and run from July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2016.

Bedford school board candidates run for specific seats, unlike neighboring school district’s such as Chappaqua who use an “at large” system, where all contenders are elected based on how many votes they get against each other.
