The Harvey School in Katonah Graduates 65

KATONAH, N.Y. - Sixty-five members of The Harvey School’s Class of 2012 received diplomas Thursday at the private school's commencement. A total of 24 academic, athletic and service prizes also were awarded to members of the class.

Ruth Streeter, a parent of two of graduates and a producer for TV's “60 Minutes," delivered the commencement address. Speaking to graduates under a big white tent on the upper campus's main lawn, Streeter described how following her inner voice led her to her current success in journalism. She said graduates should always listen to their voice, which tells everyone who they are, and not who others want them to be.

Streeter also told the graduates to not be afraid to ask "why." “Ask it a lot, especially when people don’t want you to,” she said. ”The answers you may receive may change your lives or the lives of others.”

Following Streeter, valedictorian Nikki Pugliese of Peekskill gave her address to the class. Pugliese, who earned a 4.13 grade-point average over four years, said that, to her, the Class of 2012 was not just a group of students, but a group of young people with spirit and heart.

Pugliese, who plans to attend the University of Michigan this fall, described the class as holding “a sweeping amount of potential energy, waiting to be released.”

“Today we commence to our future – scared, proud, certain," said Pugliese, who is also the student council president. "Harvey is forever in my soul, but these graduates are forever tattooed in my heart."

Class of 2012 Harvey graduates from the town of Bedford include Kimberly Ivy Bernstein of Bedford Corners; Christopher Benson Camuto of Bedford; Katherine Julia Kessler of Katonah; Julian Rodger Rissetto of Katonah; and Bryn Hillary Sara Seltzer of Katonah.
