A handful of youngsters got a unique preview of school life Tuesday during the Bedford Free Librarys Cant Wait for Kindergarten Program.
The program, which is for children entering kindergarten, required the kids to read the childrens book The Bus for Us, a childrens book written by Suzanne Bloom. The book features vibrantly colored motor-vehicles and the children are required to guess what the vehicle is.
Later on, the children were given a paper copy of the book that allowed them to color in the different vehicles. The kids were given colored pencils to get them used to the idea of writing.
Shodie Alcorn, the childrens librarian, said she created the program about five years ago.
The kids are so excited about going to kindergarten and I thought that it would be a good idea to try and take that excitement they have in the summer and use it in a positive way, Alcorn said.
