LEWISBORO, N.Y. – All schools in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District will be closed on Thursday due to severely compromised bus routes, a significant number of impassable roads and lack of regular and emergency telecommunications caused by downed trees and continued power outages in several areas in the community, according to the district.

In addition, Increase Miller Elementary School and Meadow Pond Elementary School remain without power as of Thursday afternoon. The district is working closely with the town and NYSEG, however, the damage is so extensive that it is unable to reopen the schools on Thursday, officials said.

Because school will be closed Thursday, several events, including the John Jay Middle School Drama, will be rescheduled. The district will provide another update on Thursday at 6 p.m. regarding classes on Friday.

The John Jay High School athletic wing will be open to the community and staff as a warming center for showers and as a charging center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. In addition, the Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday in the John Jay High School Library at 7:30 p.m.
