KATONAH, N.Y. The John Jay High School art department will present the opening of a showcase of student talent with a reception from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, at the Katonah Village Library.
The exhibit, sponsored by ArtsALIVE!, will run through Monday, April 30.
In a show that will span two galleries, the exhibit will showcase student work from the classes Advanced Drawing/Advanced Placement Art, Drawing and Painting 2, Handcrafts, Studio in Art, Digital Moviemaking, and Animation and Take Two: Film Studies and Filmmaking.
The reception will include live music from the John Jay High a cappella ensemble the Treble Makers, and refreshments will be served.
ArtsALIVE! also will sponsor its second annual John Jay Film Festival at Caramoor from 7 to 9 p.m. May 18. The keynote speaker will be Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker James Spione. For more information on the festival, go to http://artsalivejjhsfilmfestival2012.eventbrite.com.
