Primary Day In Bedford: Here's Where To Vote

BEDFORD, N.Y. — The primary is Tuesday, and The Bedford Daily Voice is here to show you where you to go to submit your ballot.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday for registered voters to cast their ballots in the U.S. Senate and Congressional primaries.

A Republican primary is being held for U.S. Senate, as three candidates square off to earn the right to go up against incumbent U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., in November. The three Republicans are U.S. Rep. Bob Turner of New York City, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and Manhattan attorney Wendy Long.

Two congressional primaries are also being held. In the newly aligned 18th Congressional District, five Democrats are running for a chance to challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Mount Kisco, who currently represents the 19th District.

Cortlandt Councilman Richard Becker and Buchanan resident Duane Jackson, a Times Square street vendor who helped thwart a car bomb explosion, are two local candidates. Also competing are Wappinger Falls Mayor Matt Alexander, Tuxedo Park Mayor Tom Wilson and Sean Maloney, a former aide to President Bill Clinton and Govs. Eliot Spitzer and David Paterson.

In the 17th District, James Russell, a Hawthorne resident, and Joe Carvin, supervisor of Rye, are running to represent the Republican Party. The seat is currently occupied by U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Harrison.
