Joaquin Garcia pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree and faces 25 years to life for the murder of Luis Blanco, which occurred in Yonkers in August 2015.
A jogger found Blanco's body along Route 133 and an autopsy determined he had been stabbed multiple times in the head, neck and torso, and had been shot in the back of the head, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
An investigation by Ossining Police, Yonkers Police and the county determined that Garcia owed Blanco money. Blanco met Garcia in Garcia's Ford SUV in Yonkers.
Garcia told Blanco he could not pay him back. When Blanco threatened to inform Garcia’s employer, Garcia became angry, brandished a screwdriver and demanded Blanco hand over all his valuables, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
Garcia then proceeded to stab Blanco multiple times. Another man proceeded to shoot Blanco in the back of the head, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
Garcia will be sentenced on Sept. 8
