A 21-year-old Northern Westchester man is behind bars after police charged him with raping a 16-year-old girl.
Bedford Police, along with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, served a search warrant on the Katonah residence in question and gathered evidence on Tuesday, Oct. 3 Taken into custody was Nathaniel C. Dooley of Katonah, who is known to the victim, Bedford Police said.
An extensive investigation was conducted by the Bedford Police Department’s Detective Bureau, in conjunction with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office after Bedford Police initially took the report of a 16-year-old who was victim of a sexual assault. The assault was reported to have taken place on May 14, 2017 at a residence in Katonah, police said.
Dooley was charged with rape in the third degree and attempted disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree.
Dooley was processed at Bedford Police Headquarters and arraigned in the Town of Bedford Justice Court. He is being held at the Westchester County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
He is due back in court on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
