In a Feb. 23 incident, Roy Alexander-Patric Meares, 33, choked his girlfriend and banged her head on the floor multiple times, police said.
Officers were called to 21 Mianus Bluff Drive in Bedford about 5:22 p.m. and took Meares into custody, police said. The victim was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Bedford Fire Department, where she was treated for cuts on her face as well as a broken nose.
Meares was charged with third-degree assault with the intent to cause physical injury. He was arraigned by Bedford Town Justice Erik Jacobsen, who issued a temporary order of protection for the woman, according to police.
Meares was transported to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail. He will return to Town of Bedford Court on Feb. 28.

DWI Arrest: A 61-year-old Bedford Hills man was charged with driving while intoxicated on Feb. 23. About 9:45 p.m., a driver was seen traveling 50 mph on Harris Road in a 30 mph zone. The vehicle got on the Saw Mill Parkway, exiting at Haines Road while continuing to go 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police were able to stop the driver, Ira M. Katz. Katz refused a pre-screening test at the scene, police said. Back at the station, police said, Katz's blood alcohol content measured .11 percent. He was charged with two misdemeanors: driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level over .08 percent; and four violations: refusal of a pre-screening test, two counts of speeding in a posted zone and unsafe lane change. Katz was released on his own recognizance and will appear in the Town of Bedford Court on March 7.
False Accident Report: A Millwood man gave police a false account of his Feb. 22 car accident on Route 22, according to Bedford Police. When officers responded around 11:18 p.m. to a single-car accident, 38-year-old Sean M. Smith told them he was carjacked in Connecticut, but his attacker crashed the car and fled, police said. During the investigation that followed, Bedford police said they determined that, in light of the type of damage to the car, the attacker's injuries would have made it impossible for him to leave the scene. Smith was taken to the trauma unit at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Smith eventually admitted that he was the one driving the vehicle when it crashed, and there was no carjacker, police said. No evidence of alcohol or drugs was found at the scene, police said. Smith was charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance and will return to the Town of Bedford Court on March 7.
