Bedford PD: Minor Charged in Marijuana Case

BEDFORD, N.Y.--Bedford Police have charged a 16-year-old male from Katonah with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

On June 2 at 10:25 p.m., officers on patrol came across a black SUV parked in Katonah Memorial Park on High Street and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

According to police, the officers discovered four teens smoking marijuana in the car. One of the teens admitted that there was marijuana in the car and that it was only his. The other minors were not charged with any crime, police said. The minor who allegedly made the admission was arrested and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to Bedford Town Court on June 14.

The following items were also reported by the Bedford Police Department:

  • An 18-year old Bedford Hills male was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said, after an investigation into a May 24 incident at Fox Lane High School. According to police, an assistant principal was given a tip by a teacher that a strong odor of marijuana was coming from a student's locker. The marijuana was located, police said, and officers were called to the school around 11:38 a.m. On May 31, after a follow-up investigation, police said they were able to locate the minor on Green Street in Mount Kisco and make an arrest. The teen was released on his own recognizance, police said, and is scheduled to appear in Bedford Town Court on June 14.
  • According to police, a woman on Guard Hill Road in Bedford called police around 1:17 p.m. on June 5 with a report of criminal mischief. She told police that around 11:25 a.m. she saw two male teens attempt to knock over her mailbox, police said. She said the teens did not succeed, but that she estimates they caused damage to the mailbox in the amount of $250, police said. Since her home is close to the Fox Lane campus, the Bedford Police Department’s school resource officer will conduct an investigation at the high school, police said.
