KATONAH, N.Y. - Richard L. Bartels Sr. of Katonah died Friday, Sept. 13. He was 81.
Bartels was born Sept. 17, 1932, in New Rochelle, to Henry and Isabella (Einberger) Bartels. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and earned a Bachelors in Education from Ithaca College. He taught Earth Science at Ossining High School and retired in 1994.
Bartels is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Denise, Gretchen, Kathy, Richard, Dale, Kyle and Patricia; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at St. Mary's Church, 117 Valley Road, Katonah. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 501 E 233rd St Bronx.
