Marjorie Phillips, 88, Secretary, Of Katonah

KATONAH, N.Y. – Marjorie Wright Phillips of Katonah died Oct. 5 at Franciscan Oaks in Denville, N.J. She was 88.  

Phillips was born April 2, 1924, at Northern Westchester Hospital to Harry Clement Wright and Lucy Susanna Reeves Wright. Raised in Chappaqua, she graduated from Horace Greeley High School. 

She worked as the executive secretary to DeWitt Wallace, the founder of the Reader’s Digest, and his wife, Lila Acheson Wallace. She retired from Reader’s Digest and continued to work part-time, including office support at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. 

Phillips is survived by a daughter, Christy Campbell, of Denville; a son, Roger Phillips, of Port Hudson, La.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Mount Kisco. Clark Associates Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
