KATONAH, N.Y. - Cornelius J. "Neal" "Prunes" Pronay, Jr., a lifelong resident of Katonah, died Monday, July 1. He was 87.
Pronay was born April 26, 1926, in Mount Kisco. He was a schoolteacher in Granby, Colo. and the Herricks School District, New Hyde Park before his retirement. He was a member of the Katonah Fire Department for over 60 years and was the former president.
Pronay is survived by his nieces, Janet Winthers (Dennis) of Katonah and Judy Weller (Thomas) of Patterson; cousins, Barbara Gullen (J. Waldie) of Waccabuc, Lowell Becker of Maryland; and five grandnieces and nephews. He predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Muckler.
Calling hours are Friday, July 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, with the funeral service at 8 p.m. The Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Kisco Saturday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Neal Pronay Scholarship Fund at the Katonah Fire Dept. 65 Bedford Rd, Katonah, NY 10536.
