Bedford Town Justice Kevin Quaranta Dies at 56

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Bedford Town Justice Kevin J. Quaranta died July 27 at his home in Bedford, surrounded by his family. He was 56. 

A former Bronx assistant district attorney, Quaranta served as town justice of Bedford since 2004. He also started his own practice, Quaranta & Associates, in 1979; the practice grew from Mount Kisco to serve the Bronx and Manhattan.  

He is survived by his wife, Judith Peterson; three children, Christina, Kevin and William; and a sister, Mary Beth Morrissey. 

The son of the late Dr. Mary Ann Quaranta and Dr. John V. Quaranta, he was a member of the Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Armed Forces. He graduated from Fordham Preparatory School in 1974, Fordham College in 1978 and Fordham Law School in 1981.  

Quaranta served as a past president of the Bronx Bar Association, a board member of the Catholic Big Brothers and a board member of the Westchester Fordham Law School Alumni Association. 

He also served as a former president and zone chair of the Lions Club. Quaranta coached baseball for the Bedford-Pound Ridge Little League and basketball for St. Patrick’s CYO.  

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church in Bedford.
