Aurelie Agresta, Bedford Religious School Director

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Aurelie Frances Agresta, a former Bedford and Mount Kisco religious education director, died Aug. 25. She was 83. 

Agresta was born April 7, 1929, in New Rochelle, to Aurelie T. Langley and Frank T. Bergin. She graduated from St. Gabriel Roman Catholic High School in New Rochelle, New York University with a bachelor's degree in biology and Maryknoll Theological Seminary with a master's degree in theology.  

After many years as a homemaker, Agresta worked as the director of religious education for St. Patrick's Church in Bedford and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Mount Kisco. 

Agresta's family said that she looked forward to family celebrations and holidays, which were never complete without "Aurelie's cake." In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren.  

She had a lifelong interest in flowers and plants, reading, understanding her religion and attending Mass. A resident of Danbury, Conn., she was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield, Conn. 

She is survived by seven children, Joseph, Aurelie, Thomas, Paul, William, Marguerite and Emily; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mary Clare; a brother-in law, Fred; a brother, Frank; five nieces and nephews. Her husband of 58 years, Joseph Anthony Agresta, predeceased her.  

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church. Burial will be in Milltown Rural Cemetery in Southeast, N.Y. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Green Funeral Home in Danbury.
