Woman Who Sent Sen. Ball Suspicious Package Shot to Death in Ga.

MARIETTA, GA.-- The woman who allegedly sent a bizarre package with a suspicious liquid and a stuffed monkey to the Albany office of State Sen. Greg Ball (R-Patterson) earlier this year has been fatally shot in Georgia.

A published report says Jameela Cecila Barnette, 53, was shot and killed after allegedly attacking a police officer Christmas morning. According to the Marietta Daily Journal of Georgia, the woman lunged at the officer with a knife and a handgun, and the officer fired his service weapon to stop the attack.

In April 2011, Barnette was accused of sending a Curious George monkey doll adorned with the Star of David, a vial of oil, and a racially charged letter to the Senator's office in Albany. The package was sent following anti-terrorism hearings hosted by Ball in Manhattan. She also allegedly sent a bloody pig's foot and an anti-Semitic letter to Congressman Peter King's office.

Barnette was facing federal charges in connection with the suspicious packages.
