Westchester Conservative Party Endorses Michaelis

The Conservative Party of Westchester County announced on Thursday that they would endorse Peter Michaelis for Westchester County Legislator.

Michaelis is currently running for Westchester County Legislator in District 2, which encompasses the towns of Bedford, Mt. Kisco, Lewisboro, North Salem, Pound Ridge and parts of Somers.

“The Conservative Party Committee considered the candidates carefully and decided that not only is Peter Michaelis the staunch fiscal conservative we need in the County Legislature, but he is the candidate to beat Pete Harckham in November,” said Hugh Fox, Jr.,Westchester County Conservative Party Chairman.

Lewisboro Supervisor Charlie Duffy, who is the highest ranking elected official registered as a Conservative in New York State, also added that he was confident that Peter Michaelis will “help promote the conservative principles of fiscal responsibility, fair taxation and a regulatory environment that improves rather than harms our economy. We are excited to support his candidacy and will work hard to help him take back District 2.”

Michaelis has also won the Republican Party endorsement. He said that he was thrilled to have the Conservative Party endorsement, as well.

“I appreciate the time and diligence taken by the Conservative Committee Members in reaching this decision,” he said. “Defeating Pete Harckham in November and bringing fiscal sanity back to Westchester County Government is my top priority.”

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony for his the new Katonah campaign headquarters earlier this month, Michaelis said that he wanted to bring a change to Westchester District 2.

"I’m running as a part of the smarter, smaller government. We cannot afford there kind of government any more. We need to make some serious changes,” he said.
