Town Parks Gear up for Memorial Day Crowds

As the days get longer and hotter more and more people are preparing to spend time outside.  As Memorial Day Weekend fast approaches the towns of Bedford and Mt Kisco are working hard to get their parks ready for visitors.

Bedford Memorial Park had a layer of freshly cut grass blowing in the breeze as the lifeguards began to pull out chairs and check the water temperature. On Saturday the pool will be open for the first time this season.

Over on the tennis courts, workers raked the area and prepared to put lines down to make the court official.

Bedford Memorial Park has an array of fields and courts that make it the perfect place to spend a summer day.  Besides the pool and tennis court, there are also baseball fields, a large field for lacrosse or football and a picnic area to sit and relax. There is also a huge playground for children.

At Leonard Park in Mt Kisco many parents took time out of their day to walk with their young children around the 120 acre park.  Many sat and watched as their children played on the huge playground.

Over at the pool house, staff worked hard to ensure that everything was in order for the opening weekend by vacuuming the entrance and preparing the three separate pools that the park uses.

Leonard Park and Bedford Memorial Park both offer a lot of activities and playing fields for their residents, but if people are looking to get away and in touch with nature, they should head to Indian Hill Park or Beaver Dam Park in Bedford for exciting hiking trails and nature areas. Maps of the walking/hiking trails can be found on Bedford’s town website.
