Tips for Edgemont's Spierer Near 1,000 Mark

The FBI is studying video that shows cars in the area when Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer went missing in Indiana at about 4:30 a.m. June 3.

The FBI is currently conducting video enhancement and analysis of the film. It is not yet certain if the security cameras caught two separate cars or one car from different angles, said Bloomington Police spokesperson Captain Joe Qualters. The analysis should be completed by Wednesday.

Bloomington Police will not release the make, model or color of the car or cars they may be looking for until they have a precise match.

As the search enters its 12th day, the Bloomington Police Department, in conjunction with America's Most Wanted, has received nearly 1,000 tips. Qualters thanked everyone for their help in the search for Spierer.

National experts have arrived in Indiana and are searching the area again. With the new, highly-trained personnel, a more detailed and thorough search can be done, police said.

"This is what those folks do and we're thankful that they're here," said Qualters.

Contrary to prior information, security camera footage from the Smallwood Apartment complex where Spierer lives will not be released to the public.

Although hopeful, Spierer's family was visibly weary and fatigued as they thanked supporters nation-wide for their dedication. Indiana University made a large and gracious donation to assist with the search, said Spierer's father, Rob.

"Lauren has my commitment," said mother Charlene. "I love you, Lauren. I'm ready for you to come home."

A $100,000 reward is being offered to the person who gives information leading to Spierer's return. Volunteer searches will continue every day at 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Any information about Spierer's whereabouts should be directed to the Bloomington Police Department at 812-339-4477 or the America's Most Wanted tip line at 800-CRIME-TV.
