Road Closures on Taconic Continue Through Friday

To prepare for the impending closure of the northbound Taconic State Parkway lanes for miles, transportation officials are beginning some construction work and are advising motorists to expect closures.

Officials from New York State Department of Transportation have issued an alert that the southbound ramps on the Taconic State Parkway to and from Route 134 will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday to Friday.

The department asks all motorists to use caution while traveling through the work areas and warns that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

This week's preparation is to get the road ready for rehabilitation of the AMVETS Memorial Brdige, scheduled to begin Monday and proceed until November.

Officials explained the project, which will continue until Nov. 9, will shift all northbound traffic on the Taconic State Parkway to the southbound Taconic State Parkway, starting at Pines Bridge Road and then shifting back just south of Underhill Avenue.
