“When you have two, 3-year-old boys, it’s nice to be in a pool,” Jill Sarote, a Bedford resident, said as she watched over her twin sons, Justin and Michael. “We came here to stay cool.”

Charles Cottier, the pool’s director, said the pool can draw anywhere from 200 to 250 people in a given day during the summer.

Wednesday’s activity was understandable, considering that an excessive heat warning was in effect. An excessive heat watch will stay in effect for the area until Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperature are expected to reach as high as the mid 90's on Thursday and the upper 90's on Friday.

“It’s been pretty warm,” Cottier said. “Our superintendent brought over bottles of water for the staff so that everyone can stay hydrated.”

Adrian Gray, another Bedford resident, came to the pool with his 1-year-old son Landon, and 3-year-old son, Connor.

“I wanted to get the kids in the pool,” Gray said. “They’re at a swimming age now and it’s good to get them in the pool with other kids.”

Regular pool season hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Call 914-234-3246 for more information.
