Report: Actor Richard Gere, Wife Headed For Divorce

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Actor Richard Gere and his wife, Carey Lowell, are headed for divorce, according to a New York Post report.

Gere owns Bedford Post, a restaurant at 954 Old Post Road in Bedford.

The pair recently separated after 11 years, according to the report, and are planning to file for divorce. Gere and Lowell have not "been photographed together since a Hamptons screening of his Wall Street thriller 'Arbitrage' last year, and one source close to the couple said they’ve 'been spending time apart for quite some time,'" according to the report from the NY Post's Page Six.

A second source noted that the "two have drifted into different lifestyles as the Buddhist actor craves privacy and Lowell likes socializing with other bigwigs," according to the report.

Gere enjoys Bedford, according to the source.

“They have a place in Bedford (NY), and he likes it because it’s quiet and he likes the solitude,” said the source in the report. “She likes being in North Haven in the limelight. They live next door to Jimmy Buffett and his family, and they’re good friends.”
