MOUNT KISCO, N.Y - The Westchester Oratorio Society starts its 15th season this weekend with a performance at the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco on Saturday the 19th. The concert is titled For Sacred Peace, and will be lead by Benjamin Niemczyk.
The Oratorio will be performing Mozart's "Requiem" with orchestra and soloists, Verdi's Quattro Pezzi Sacri, Britten's Lacrymosa and Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus, according to Niemczyk. They will be accompanied by James Kennerly on the churchs pipe organ, which will be his third time collaborating with the Oratorio.
The Oratorio Society has played Carnegie Hall and the Brooklyn Philharmonic, among others. The group, which practices in Katonah, is also looking for competent volunteer singers, says Niemczyk.
The evenings performance begins at 8:00 PM and cost $20 for general admission, and $40 for preferred seating. There will be a reception immediately following the performance. The next time the Oratorio Society will be performing will be on December 10th at Muscoot Farm in Somers, starting at 5:00 PM.
