MT KISCOJuly and August are some of the most popular times for workers to take vacations, but according to a new CareerBuilder.com survey, many people are cutting back on their time away from the office, including plenty of Mt Kisco workers.
The survey concluded that of the full-time workers questioned, almost a quarter said they wouldnt be able to afford to take a vacation. This is a 3 percent increase from last year. Additionally, 12 percent said they could afford to take a vacation, but that they were not planning on it.
According to the survey, even people who are lucky enough to take a vacation are not forgetting about work while theyre relaxing -- 30 percent of people who said they plan to take a vacation also said that they would stay in contact with work while away.
Denise Bednarczyk, CEO and Owner of Health Potato in Mt Kisco, said that a number of factors contributed to her cutting back on vacation time this summer.
Our family normally would take day trips to the New Jersey shore and New York City. We rarely leave Westchester, Bednarczyk said. During the long Fourth of July weekend, Bednarczyk and her family opted to stay local, visiting Frannie's Goodie Shop for a treat.
Taking short day trips or weekend getaways, like Bednarczyk does, is one way to avoid taking a lot of time off work.
Despite the struggles of owning her own business, Bednarczyk said that her family would be going on vacation for one week to the Jersey Shore -- a tradition she is not willing to give up.
