Man Struck by Train at Croton-Harmon Station

A man was struck by a train Tuesday night at the Croton-Harmon Metro-North station, according to Sgt. Turner of the Croton Police Department, and verified by local EMS. The MTA employee was air-lifted from the scene by Life Net of New York, and flown to Westchester Medical Center. MTA has not yet released the identity of the MTA worker.

According to Paul Mullin of the Tri-Community EMS, the worker was “moved from under the train by Croton Fire Department, Croton Emergency Medical Services, Tri-Community Advanced Life Support and Ossining Emergency Medical Services.” Mullin continued that the man was “stabilized by Ossining paramedics and Life Net of New York.”

When asked about the response, Mullin said “the system worked, everybody was in place, and this guy was given the best chance at life.” According to Mullin, the man was pulled from underneath the train, from within one foot of the wheel of the train.

Life Net of New York, which covers much of South Eastern New York, was taking off from another location in Westchester when the call was received, said Mullin. Flight paramedics were able to respond quicker to the call as a result.
