MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- OverDrive, the service provider for e-books to the Westchester Library System, has announced it's going to be providing e-books for the Kindle in one-to-two weeks. The Amazon-made device was the noteworthy gadget initially left out of the fray for local libraries, as the company caters to many other popular e-book compatible machines.
According to Susan Riley, director of the Mount Kisco Public Library, OverDrive originally promised to have the services ready by the end of the year, as she suspected for the holiday season. Instead, Christmas came early, as the company announced they would have e-books ready in the next two weeks. The Mount Kisco Library has already fielded much interest about the announcement.
Weve already gotten phone calls this morning, its amazing, Im very excited about it, said Riley.
The director said she feels this will have a big impact on library-going circles because of the Kindle community that already exists, along with the prospect of saving money in the process.
There are a lot of Kindle users out there spending a lot of money on e-books," Riley said. "But now they can get them for free through us.
