Ice Cream the Cooling Treat of Choice in Bedford

Although rain would soon fall down in the Town of Bedford Monday evening, there were people who couldn’t wait for the rain and decided to cool down with ice cream instead.

The manager of the Carvel Ice Cream, located on Bedford Road in Bedford Hills, said business has just been OK despite the heat and humidity that has blanketed the area the past few weeks.

But Joseph John Greto, who runs a construction and landscaping business in Mount Kisco, was one of the people who couldn’t wait to get his hands on some ice cream. Greto said the combination of heat and dust from the masonry work he’s been doing the past few days often leave his arms with a mud-like covering at the end of the day.

“It’s OK, but not great,” Greto said of the heat. “I just try to stay hydrated during the day.”

Although he has truck with air conditioning in it, he avoids working in it during the day.

“You stay active all day and once you get inside the air conditioning, you end up getting a headache,” Greto said.
