Fox Lane Students Get Lesson in Driving Safety

MT KISCO—Driving is a big responsibility and few people know that better than the staff at Grand Prix New York(GPNY), which is the largest indoor racing venue in Westchester County.

So when the organization had the opportunity to sponsor “Survive the Drive,” an hour long safe driving presentation at local schools, they jumped on the opportunity to make the roads a little more safe.

“With more teen drivers hitting the road than ever before, it’s critical to give them the information they need before they venture out into traffic on their own,” Nat Mundy, GPNY Co-Founder and Vice President said.

The program has been welcomed at a number of schools across Westchester and Fairfield County, including Fox Lane High School.

Students at Fox Lane listened to the presentation about the dangers associated with driving. “Survive the Drive” gave tips that can be used to help young drivers remain safe behind the wheel. The program emphasized how difficult and important safe driving is.

“Survive the Drive” presentations, sponsored by Grand Prix New York, were given for free to schools that requested it.

Health and Physical Education Coordinator Joseph Klausz of the Bedford Central School District saw the importance of such a lesson.

“As educators, we have the responsibility to not only prepare our students for life after high school, but also to provide them with them the skills necessary to be good citizens,” Klausz said. “Survive the Drive might have saved a life or two at this school.”

Grand Prix New York, located in Mt. Kisco, hopes to continue the message taught by the “Survive the Drive” program on their race track by offering students who attended the program a “Buy One, Get One Free” discount for racing.
