Fema to Open Mobile Disaster Center in Mt. Kisco

MOUNT KISCO, NY--Following a request by Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, FEMA has announced it will operate a mobile disaster recovery center in Mount Kisco starting Friday and through the weekend in order to give residents in northern Westchester a convenient way to file their claims.

The center will be set up at 333 North Bedford Road and will be in operation Friday,Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The center will be staffed by FEMA, the Small Business Administration, the Westchester County Department of Social Services, the Red Cross and some state agencies.

Up until now, FEMA has been operating a disaster recovery center at the Westchester County Center in White Plains to help individuals, households and businesses get help filing for Hurricane Irene Disaster Aid.  Westchester County has been declared a federal disaster area.

"This mobile center should be helpful and convenient for residents in northern Westchester who may have been impacted by the storm, but have not had time to come to White Plains," said Astorino.

Astorino reminded residents that they do not have to appear in person to file a hurricane claim. If they plan to visit the new mobile location, they should register in advance online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling FEMA's registration number 1-800-621-3362.
