Writing on behalf of the organization A New Chance, Candy Higgins told Daily Voice that the dog first went missing on the evening of Monday, Feb. 6 but was last seen on Saturday, Feb. 11 near Bedford Village.
The dog's name is Annabelle, Higgins said, but explained that people who see her should not use it to call out, citing her history of being mistreated.
"Since she was treated horribly before being rescued, calling out to her or pursuing her in any way will only push her further away," Higgins wrote in an email. "It's vital that people just phone the number and let us know where they saw her so the rescue expert can capture her."
People who spot the dog are asked to call 917-207-6650.
