Con Ed: Westchester Power Restored by Wednesday

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.—Con Edison says its relief efforts will take until Wednesday to complete after thousands of Westchester County residents lost power following Saturday's snowstorm.

Approximately 56,000 customers lost power in Westchester County and the “vast majority” of them will have their power restored by late Wednesday, according to a statement released by the company Monday.

The company said the number of workers in the field will increase to more than 1,000, “as contractor and mutual aid crews from other utilities arrive.” The utility had 118,000 customers in the dark since the storm, with 57,000 in the New York City and Westchester County area. By Monday morning, it had restored more than half —more than 61,000.

Con Edison also cautioned people who are planning to enjoy the holiday, saying Halloween trick-or-treaters need to be aware of downed power lines hidden by fallen trees or snow, and to report the damage if it is not being taken care of.
