Bedford Declares State of Emergency, All Roads Closed

BEDFORD, N.Y. ? A state of emergency was declared for Bedford effective noon Monday in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. All roads are closed except to emergency and highway personnel.

Bedford firehouses have opened their doors as warming centers where residents can find shelter during the day. Residents may go to the Bedford Fire Department at 34 Village Green, Bedford, 914-234-3133; the Bedford Hills Fire Department at 332 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, 914-666-8253; and the Katonah Fire Department at 65 Bedford Road, Katonah, 914-232-4570.

Overnight shelter will be available at the Bedford Hills Fire Department. If overnight shelter is needed, residents are asked to call the Bedford Police Department at 914-241-3111 to make arrangements. 

The Bedford Town House will be closed Monday afternoon and Tuesday and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Dry ice and water will be available at the Town House after the storm.
