Air Quality Advisory Issued for Westchester County

WESTCHESTER-- An air quality advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the New York Metropolitan Area and Long Island, which includes Westchester and Rockland counties, as well as Nassau, Suffolk and the five boroughs of New York.

The New York State Department of Health recommends spending more time indoors today, to limit exposure to high ozone levels, and to limit strenuous outdoor activities. This is especially recommended to individuals who work outdoors, who have respiratory disease, such as asthma or for young children who play outdoors.  

If you experience coughing, shortness of breath or chest pain the New York State Department of Health recommends contacting you doctor. For more information on the Air Quality Index you can check the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s website, or call their toll free air quality hotline at 1-800-535-1345.
